Your driveway is the first thing people see when they pull up — and it's what you use every day to get in and out. Over time, a driveway can start to show its age. The concrete can crack, become dirty or stained, and simply look unattractive. Many driveways have had resurfacing or restoration work in the past that simply didn't last. That's why more homeowners on the Mornington Peninsula are choosing professional driveway sealing and painting instead.
Peninsula Concrete Sealing offers professional driveway sealing and painting services that will protect your driveway, garage, pathway or other concrete-based surface from the elements and keep it looking its best — with longevity as our most important goal.
We offer a variety of products and colours to choose from, so you can match your driveway to best suit the rest of your home's exterior and its needs. Options include solvent-based acrylics, polyurethane and 2 Pack, including clear coating. You can choose the finish you want — Matte, Satin, Semi Gloss or High Gloss — to complement the surface we're sealing. We also have a great eye for colours and can assist in your final decision.
Our driveway painting service is affordable and convenient. We offer free estimates, and we can usually complete most jobs within 2 to 3 days.
The 4-step process
Assessment
What type of surface are we looking to seal, and what are your expectations? What condition is the surface in? Are there cracks, or signs of concrete cancer? Has it been sealed or resurfaced before? We can advise whether a simple refresh with Nutech Pavecoat or a 2 Pack Polycryl is the smarter, more cost-effective choice over full resurfacing. There are many elements that need to be observed and considered.
We must ensure that when we say we can do a job to a high standard, we deliver a high standard. If we can't do it right, we won't do it at all — and the customer must be aware of any limitations on long-lasting driveway painting before we commence any work.
Cleaning & preparation
Like any painting procedure, driveway sealing (or painting) is the same: it's all in the preparation. Cracks can be filled with either a concrete-based product, epoxy or caulking — all have pros and cons and will depend on the concrete painting application.
Next we thoroughly clean the surface using specialised chemicals and high-pressure cleaning techniques to remove all oil, dirt, grime and organics. Once dry, we tape and protect adjoining surfaces and areas where required.
If there is an existing coat of sealer on the surface, we need to either remove or reactivate that product, as it would have already made a bond with the concrete that future sealers will need to rely upon. This is an important and commonly overlooked step.
Application
We offer high-end solvent-based acrylic, solvent-based 2 Pack and water-based polyurethane driveway painting sealers from Nutech. They are a minimum two-coat application system. Within the application, a non-slip additive may be added to the amount required for pitch or slope. A third coat is optional depending on the application and the requirements of the job.
Each coat requires a minimum curing time depending on the weather and the application. Once initially cured that day you can walk on it; however, no vehicle traffic is allowed for 6 days (if you can give 7+ days for more curing time, that would be great).
Clean-up
We thoroughly clean up after ourselves at the end of each day's work. The driveway will have bollards placed out the front during the curing time (which we will pick up after 6 days), or the area will be taped off.

Driveway painting vs driveway resurfacing — what's the real difference?
Driveway resurfacing might look like a quick fix, but our Nutech solvent-based acrylics, 2 Pack or polyurethane painting and sealing system delivers better value, far lower lifetime costs, and true long-term protection for Mornington Peninsula driveways in Frankston, Langwarrin, Safety Beach, Mount Martha and beyond.
In plain terms: resurfacing usually means applying a thick new overlay or spray-on concrete layer. Driveway painting and sealing (using our premium Nutech 2Pac Polycryl system) is a high-performance protective coating applied directly to your existing concrete. It's significantly more affordable, faster to install, and designed for long-term protection against UV, weather and heavy traffic on the Peninsula.
Traditional resurfacing
Thick overlay or spray-on concrete layer over the existing surface.
- Upfront costTypically much higher
- InstallHeavier disruption and a longer process
- Clear recoatApprox. every 1–2 years
- LifespanLimited ~10 years — if the overlay doesn't fail first
- End of lifeCan lead to full removal or replacement
- Peninsula conditionsVariable performance under extreme weather and traffic
Nutech painting & sealing
High-performance coating applied directly to your existing concrete.
- Upfront costMore cost-effective for most homes
- InstallFaster — most jobs complete in 2–3 days
- MaintenanceSimple maintenance coat every 5–10 years
- LifespanNo fixed maximum — recoatable indefinitely
- End of lifeSafe strip and refresh when layers build up — no demolition
- Peninsula conditionsBuilt for extreme local conditions, UV and heavy use
While resurfacing can look like a “new” driveway initially, it typically costs a lot more upfront and needs a clear recoat about every 1–2 years. Our Nutech 2Pac Polycryl driveway painting system delivers better value — more affordable, with superior long-term protection without the heavy disruption or ongoing expense of traditional overlays.
A typical resurfaced or decorative concrete overlay has a limited lifetime span of around 10 years — assuming the resurfacing or overlay does not fail first — and often ends in full demolition and replacement. In contrast, our Nutech 2Pac Polycryl system has no maximum lifespan. You simply apply a maintenance coat every 5–10 years (depending on traffic and exposure) and it can be recoated indefinitely.
When layers eventually build up over many years, we use a safe, eco-friendly stripper to remove the old coating and start fresh. There is no need for expensive demolition or replacement — unlike resurfacing that often ends in full removal once the overlay has failed or reached end of life.
For the extreme conditions of the Mornington Peninsula — intense UV, weather exposure and heavy use — our Nutech 2Pac Polycryl driveway painting and sealing system is the smarter, longer-lasting choice for the vast majority of homes. We'll honestly tell you if resurfacing is ever warranted during your free on-site assessment.
We specialise in professional driveway painting, sealing and protective coatings using the proven Nutech 2Pac Polycryl system. We do not perform full resurfacing overlays, which allows us to focus on delivering the most cost-effective, durable solution for your existing concrete.
Frequently asked questions — painting vs resurfacing on the Mornington Peninsula
Driveway resurfacing usually involves applying a thick new overlay or spray-on concrete layer. In most cases, no. While resurfacing looks like a “new” driveway initially, it typically costs a lot more upfront and needs a clear recoat about every 1–2 years. Even then, the limited lifetime is around 10 years — assuming the resurfacing or decorative concrete overlay does not fail first. Our Nutech 2Pac Polycryl driveway painting system delivers better value — more affordable, with superior long-term protection without the heavy disruption or ongoing expense.
A typical resurfaced or decorative concrete overlay has a limited lifetime of around 10 years — assuming the overlay does not die first — and often ends in full demolition and replacement. Clear recoats are still required about every 1–2 years along the way. In contrast, our Nutech 2Pac Polycryl system has no maximum lifespan. You simply apply a maintenance coat every 5–10 years (depending on traffic and exposure) and it can be recoated indefinitely.
Very little. Most Mornington Peninsula driveways only need a simple maintenance coat every 5–10 years. That is far less frequent than the clear recoat cycle of about every 1–2 years usually required after traditional resurfacing or decorative concrete overlay. We'll advise the exact interval based on your specific traffic and exposure during the free quote.
When the layers eventually build up over many years, we use a safe, eco-friendly stripper to remove the old coating and start fresh. There is no need for expensive demolition or replacement — unlike resurfacing or decorative concrete overlay that often ends in full removal once the system has failed or reached its limited ~10-year lifespan.
For the harsh coastal conditions of the Mornington Peninsula (extreme weather, intense UV and heavy use), our Nutech 2Pac Polycryl driveway painting and sealing system is the smarter, longer-lasting choice for the vast majority of homes.
